With roughly 8.8 million Legal Permanent Residents (lpr) in the U.S. and 150,000 in San Diego County alone who are currently eligible to apply for citizenship, many are held back from realizing their dream of becoming Americans.
In order to encourage LPRs to become naturalized citizens or new Americans, The Employee Rights Center is excited to announce that we will be embarking on a new campaign to provide the assistance needed for them to become citizens. Through an ERC 25 we will provide much needed resources to face one of the primary barriers for potential applicants. CLICK BELOW TO SEE HOW IT WORKS!
Through the ERC 25, a revolving fund of $25,000 we will be offered to 25 eligible participants at any given time. Participants will NOT have to pay any legal fees for this service and as soon as their application loan is re-paid we will use that money to help someone else in their community become a citizen!
In order to run this campaign we have partnered with UURISE and San Diego Organizing Project. UURISE brings 25+ years of legal experience and expertise in the naturalization process in San Diego. SDOP will provide the outreach and organizing capacity through their 20+ member churches.
And finally and more importantly, to the participants we will only ask that they help us by bringing 2 more eligible applicants in the next 12 months. Thus, ERC 25’s main goal is to help 75 residents become fully participating citizens. The next step is where we need your help! We are reaching out to raise $25,000 needed to run this program for the next year.
For over a decade, the Employee Rights Center has been offering education and low-cost advocacy to all immigrant workers and their families through our Labor’s Immigration Program from our offices in the heart of City Heights. Your gift will make an immediate impact on people’s lives and our community by helping these new Americans naturalize. Thank you in advance for your support!
